The Recovery and Rehabilitation Centre

Australia wide Training in Recovery and Rehabilitation for Mental Health, Health, Disability   and

Community Services professionals.

The training program was started by Prahran Mission   in 1997, after accreditation by The   Boston University Centre for Psychiatric Rehabilitation (we are the only accredited trainers in this approach in Australia). This year the training program has been rationalised and reborn as the Recovery and Rehabilitation Centre. The core staff remain the same and close links with Prahran Mission and Boston University remain in place.

We have provided successful   training in all states   across Australia, and in a very broad range of mental health settings. These settings include; Clinical inpatient rehabilitation wards, Residential rehabilitation programs, Day programs, Employment programs, Outreach Programs, and specialist rehabilitation programs.

We work exclusively in the area of mental health and understand the real impact of mental illness, both symptoms and   consequences,   at all levels. Our approach combines specific skills and techniques such as,   motivational interviewing, strengths based approach, narrative therapy, case management, etc, with the knowledge of proven rehabilitation and change processes including specific psychiatric rehabilitation technologies such as readiness assessments and development.

By combining the existing skills of trainees with detailed knowledge of rehabilitation processes, we aim to maximise the ability of workers from all sectors   to apply their skills   to the context of mental Health.   With close links to research and academic developments our practice, training content and skills are continually developing.

The trainers are well known in the field for their excellent practice and training abilitties.

Courses are suitable for Practitioners, Managers, and   Policy developers, from all disciplines including; medical, nursing, social work, occupational therapy, psychology, teaching etc.

Choose from courses available from the training calendar, or else customised training can be developed to meet the specific needs of groups,   agencies and programs.

We also provide professional supervision for individuals or groups. These may be privately organised by individuals wishing to improve their skills or arranged by organisations accessing secondary consultancy as a part of staff or program development.
